however, we should also clearly recognize that, compared with industrialized countries, the foundry industry in our country is still large and not strong, and there is a clear gap in industrial structure, quality and efficiency, capability of independent innovation, technology and equipment, energy resource utilization efficiency, and transformation and upgrading the task is urgent and arduous: first, the problem of structural overcapacity is outstanding, there is a considerable amount of backward production capacity, and the consistency and stability of the key castings are poor. second, the capability of independent innovation is weak and some high-end key castings still fail to meet the demands of domestic hosts and major technical equipment development requirements; third, high energy and resource consumption and pollutant emissions, high input, high consumption, high emission, low output, low-cost features are still more prominent. to a large extent, these problems have constrained the foundry industry in our country from becoming bigger and stronger and must be solved as soon as possible.

during the "13th five-year plan" period, china's casting production will enter a stage of slow growth. factor costs such as labor force and constraints on energy, resources and environment will further tighten, facing "re-industrialization" from industrialized countries and accelerated industrialization in developing countries the "two-way squeeze." in the meantime, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is under way in the world. the acceleration and innovation of emerging technologies such as 3d printing and robotics are exerting a profound impact on industrial development and the division of labor. new modes of production and industries in this context, the foundry industry must actively meet the challenges during the "13th five-year plan", seize the opportunities for development and accelerate the supply-side structural reforms. from the extensive scale focusing on scale and speed to the quality and efficiency intensive transformation to promote the transformation and upgrading of the foundry industry, improve quality and efficiency, do a good job in innovation and development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry, an important support for the building of a strong foundry casting foundation.
